Professional Learning Exchanges

Summary 

The Professional Learning Exchange is Hackney Education’s collaborative school-to-school model designed specifically for middle leaders, including Subject Leads, Heads of Department, SENCOs, and Pastoral Leads across primary, secondary, and special schools.Replacing traditional subject networks, PLEs provide structured cross-phase sessions that focus on practical school improvement and peer learning across four half-day sessions per academic year. Each 2.5-hour session includes concise research briefings on current priorities, facilitated small- group case discussions to evaluate operational challenges, and structured peer networking. The exchanges provide middle leaders with dedicated time to collaborate across settings and produce actionable implementation plans for their schools.
