14 November 2024, 3.30 - 4.15: Foundations of Cognitive Development in Early Childhood
Explore the fundamentals of cognitive development, how we think and build our understanding of
the world around us. This includes looking at memory, problem-solving, and language acquisition.
Outcomes:
• Understand general principles of how children learn and think during the early years.
• Recognise how to adapt the environment to support cognitive development.
6 February 2025, 3.30 - 4.15: Exploring Sensory Development in Early Childhood
Understand the role of the senses in early childhood development. We will look at all eight senses
and their role in learning and behaviour.
Outcomes:
• Recognise the importance of sensory experiences in overall development.
• Learn how to support sensory development within an Early Years setting.
13 March 2025, 3.30 - 4.15: Nurturing Social and Emotional Development
Examine the social and emotional aspects of early childhood development. Learn about self-
regulation and the role that social interactions play across development.
Outcomes:
• Understand the critical aspects of social and emotional development in early childhood.
• Appreciate what elements will be central to support aimed at nurturing children's social
and emotional skills.
12 June 2025, 3.30 - 4.15: The Power of Play in Early Childhood
We will highlight the importance of play in development. Discuss different types of play and how
play interacts with cognitive, social and emotional development.
Outcomes:
• Appreciate the various forms of play and their benefits.
• Understand the key ingredients to consider in designing and evaluate play-based activities.

- Disciplinary and grievance: This session is designed to help school leaders conduct an appropriate investigation and disciplinary hearing, and understand the different sanctions that employees may be given. We will look into our policy to explore best practice and ensure procedures are fair, and consistent. You will also understand what happens when an employee raises a grievance, how to investigate and the appeals process.
2nd Session - 24th January 2025:
- Safer Recruitment and Selection: This workshop will provide an overview of how to ensure your school’s recruitment and selection processes are compliant with Keeping Children Safe in Education. The course will include a summary of the statutory guidance associated with safer recruitment and selection in schools. There will be an overview of safer recruitment and selection processes and also looking at how to carry out the correct safeguarding checks including online searches.
3rd Session -13th June 2025:
- Capability: This session will enable you to deal with under-performance issues within your school. You will learn to understand the difference between capability and conduct issues and how to deal with them informally and formally.
