HR: Sickness Absence Training
Introduction
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting schools with effective sickness management, a virtual training session has been scheduled for Thursday 11 December 2025, at 10:30AM. The purpose of this session will be to ensure that all participants have a clear and consistent understanding of the Sickness Absence Management Policy and Procedure, and the responsibilities within it.
Programme Outline
The session will allow participants to:
- Understand the sickness absence policy and procedures
- Learn how to apply best practice when managing sickness absence, including early intervention, supportive conversations, and the use of formal stages when appropriate
- Consider practical issues and how to overcome them
- When and how to seek support and advice from HR and Occupational Health
- Help build confidence in applying the procedure fairly and consistently
- Reinforce the importance of accurate documentation and compliance with policy and employment legislation
