Primary Subject Leader Forum: Humanities
This session provides opportunities for Humanities Coordinators to network, share good practice and receive the latest updates in the development of teaching and learning of History and Geography in the primary phase. It is tailored to support the coordinators in their role to develop, enhance and monitor the effectiveness of teaching and learning in History and Geography across their school. Training covers effective teaching and learning tasks that can be used directly in the classroom, and includes resources. This training meeting is suitable for those schools which follow IPC and those who create their own curriculum.
Led by Lewis Folkard, Hoxton Garden School and Meret Stokes, Mandeville Primary School & HTSA Specialist
Course objectives
- To support the coordinators in their quality assurance and monitoring of pupil progression in Humanities subjects.
- To support coordinators in planning learning according to the National Curriculum.
- To deliver training on pedagogy and assessment, which will improve the teaching and learning of History and Geography in primary schools.
- To support the coordinators in promoting, delivering and monitoring of good practice in the teaching of History and Geography in their schools.
- To provide opportunities to reflect upon own practice, best practice and ways to support and develop the practice of colleagues.
Each term the group will focus on:
- Supporting students with enquiry-based learning
- Tracking and monitoring progress in humanities
- Planning for progress

Primary Subject Leader Forum: Science
Calling all primary science leads! Join our supportive network and gain access to professional development, practical ideas and resources. We are running 3 forums across the year, led by Kate Roberts and Ece Ergen.
These online sessions are to update science subject leaders with current developments in the teaching and learning of primary science.
- Looking at the difference between substantive and disciplinary knowledge in science and how to explicitly teach the 'working scientifically' skills
- Supporting SEND pupils (and we can explore PPG pupils here too)
- Tracking and assessing progress in science

A bit about the facilitators
Kate is the Director of Hackney Teaching and School’s Alliance and has worked as a Primary Science Consultant and Science Specialist Leader of Education. She is passionate about science education and widening participation in science subjects.
Ece is a Year 6 teacher and Science lead at Harrington Hill Primary school. She lead the science forums for Hackney Education last year and is committed to ensuring that science is both accessible and engaging for all pupils, regardless of their needs.

- Adaptive teaching/SEND - challenges and possible solutions - Attendees will need to be prepared to talk about their setting/children in relation to this.

Primary Subject Leader Network Forum: Music
These sessions will be run by Hackney Music Service and are all FREE.
