This session will cover best practice in observing test administration and explain the risks involved for schools, and what ideal test practice looks like in a primary school.

This session will focus on:

  • Available guidance of KS1 and KS2 Assessment and Reporting Arrangements (ARA) and understanding what qualifies maladministration.
  • Understanding the statutory responsibilities of headteachers during SATs including practical advice about how to keep materials secure. 
  • Procedures and processes during the test week itself to avoid misunderstanding and allegations of maladministration. 
  • The role of a governor as an observer and what you should look for when observing SATs.
  • What schools should expect if they receive a monitoring visit from the LA.
