This session will cover best practice in observing test administration and explain the risks involved for schools, and what ideal test practice looks like in a primary school.

- Understanding the statutory responsibilities of headteachers during SATs including practical advice about how to keep materials secure.
- Procedures and processes during the test week itself to avoid misunderstanding and allegations of maladministration.
- The role of a governor as an observer and what you should look for when observing SATs.
- What schools should expect if they receive a monitoring visit from the LA.

Moderation of writing in Year 6: securing judgements for borderline pupils
Introduction
This practical session is designed to support teachers identify and secure the standards in writing for their children. Some children demonstrate the statements within writing but at times teachers are not sure if the evidence shows this securely.
Course objectives
- To secure a judgement for the pupils writing.
- To provide ideas on how to find and address gaps in children’s learning.
Course requirements
Teachers must bring children's books for writing to the session (1 of each standard) WTS/EXS/GDS.

Phonics screening check: the administration explained
Introduction
This course is aimed at teachers or senior leaders who are planning to implement the year 2 Phonics check.
Course objectives:
- This course provides a guide to the administration, planning and organisation of the check.
- This course will enable you to access key documentation and updates so that you are fully aware of the implementation requirements.

This course is free for Hackney schools. Non-Hackney schools have to pay £45 + VAT pp.
