Assessment Network

Course overview

The Hackney Schools Primary Assessment Network is a group of leaders responsible for assessment who meet in forum style sessions and share regular communications about best practice and research.

The aims of the network are to:

  • Seek guidance and advice from other assessment leaders.

  • Share and discuss best practice and innovation in the area of assessment.

  • Explore best practice in assessment informed by current research and engage in local trials and research.

 The Hackney Schools Primary Assessment Network will:

  • Examine developments within statutory assessment and benchmarking at the end of EYFS, KS1 and KS2. 

  • Support leaders in the development and evaluation of their assessment strategy and practices which includes visiting speakers.

  • Showcase local best practice from schools including work in progress.

  • Inform leaders about key publications, research and guidance from the DfE and OFSTED as well as leading research organisations discussing implications for the leadership and management of assessment.

  • Publish any work and innovation that emerges.

Keynote speakers will lead sessions once a term to share their research and ideas.

This training session will use the standardisation materials to enhance current practice in moderating writing.

Course objectives

  • To strengthen our understanding of the differences between each of the 3 national standards for English writing for Year 2.

Who should attend?

Year 2 teachers, assessment leads, Deputy Heads and Head teachers. Trained KS1 moderators do not need to attend.

Course overview

This practical session is to explore and understand the standards in Year 6 and to work with colleagues on moderating pupils work in writing.

  • To gain opportunities to work with colleagues to moderate judgements in writing referencing national standard guidance (training and practical session).
